David and Sabrina, who were both born and raised in North York, have been together for 24 years and are proud parents of two daughters and a cute Goldendoodle. Dave is a lifelong musician, music teacher & artist. Sabrina has spent her career working with non-profits and in the corporate world, and for the past 8 years, they have run their music school together. They both have a great love for music, art, nature and wellness.

Christian, Sabrina’s brother, has spent his career working in the public sector helping others, volunteering & running the family business. As an active soccer & padel player, Christian also has an affinity for nature, wellness & spirituality.

We fell in love with this land & each of the unique cottages & cabins on the property. We are excited to share this beautiful place with our guests & make sure everyone has a memorable and enjoyable experience.

The Meaning Behind Our Name

A sugar moon is the full moon in March or early April, signifying the start of spring and the annual maple sap flow, known in many Indigenous cultures—particularly the Anishinaabe—as a time of renewal and the “Sugar Moon” or “Ziissbaakdoke Giizis.” It represents the season for harvesting maple sap to create sugar and syrup.

The Sugar Moon encourages renewal and growth. It reminds us of the deep connection between the changing seasons and the rhythms of nature. It is a period for renewal of the spirit, reflection on personal growth, and honouring the wisdom passed down through generations. The Sugar Moon encourages us to embrace transformation, seek balance, and nurture the connections with both the natural world and our inner selves.

As you explore our 27 acres and the thousands of acres of Crown land surrounding our property, take a moment to enjoy the maple trees & all of the surrounding nature. It is our pleasure to share this beautiful land with our guests & we look forward to making our own maple syrup & sharing it with our guests in the future.

Choose from the Waterfront Cottage, the A-Frame Cabin, or the Off Grid Cabin. Each cottage & cabin is secluded and privately tucked away from the others, with its own BBQ, firepit, private trail and dock for waterfront access.

The local town of Maynooth is just five minutes away, and nearby Algonquin Park, beaches and trails offer more opportunities to explore. Whether you visit in summer or winter, Sugar Moon is a place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
